Thanks to our fantastic volunteers, MARA always offers extremely well run races. The jobs are all straightforward, but everyone is vital. No experience is necessary. You’ll be given all the information you need to know the first time you do a job to feel comfortable and competent. Below is a list of the jobs we need filled for every race and a link to our volunteer calendar.
Starter – communicates with start hut and starts racers
Assistant Starter – gets racers ready and lined up in start order
Gate Judge – watches several gates to ensure racers take the proper path
Hand Timer – runs a synchronized stop watch as a back up to the electronic timing system
Results Board – records results
Registration – registers racers the morning of the race
Course Maintenance – maintains safe racing surface during the race
Bib Collection – collects bibs after the last run at the bottom of the race course
